Oakland, Calif. — Jan. 3, 2018 — When children struggle to read, many parents try to address the issue by hiring tutors or purchasing reading apps to supplement special services provided at school. Most tutoring and reading programs, however, only address the symptoms of the underlying weaknesses, rather than the root causes of their child’s reading difficulty. To address the causes of reading and learning struggles once and for all, families across the U.S. and Canada are turning to the Fast ForWord® Home service from Scientific Learning Corp. (OTC PINK:SCIL).

With Fast ForWord Home, elementary, middle, and high school learners can become better learners in just 30 minutes a day. The online service – subscriptions for which have grown 25 percent over last year -- combines the neuroscience-based Fast ForWord language and reading program with a live educational consultant who works with parents to review progress and help with areas of need. By targeting core issues related to memory, attention, and processing speed while developing a wide range of language and reading skills, Fast ForWord Home helps children who struggle with issues such as dyslexia, autism, auditory processing disorder, and speech/language disabilities, among others. Ninety-six percent of parents surveyed reported improvement in their child’s learning after Fast ForWord.

Amie Wozniak began using Fast ForWord Home with her nine-year-old son, Sullivan, in March. “Sulli,” who was diagnosed with autism at age two, continued to struggle even after working with different therapists and specialists for years. “When we began working with the Fast ForWord Home educational consultant, she told us to think of the brain like a road. Fast ForWord finds the potholes — the weak areas — and fills them in. This foundational work makes the road to learning and reading much smoother and faster,” said Wozniak. “And that’s why Sulli has made such incredible gains in his time working with the Fast ForWord Home program. It addresses the root causes of difficulties, instead of working around them. It has been a game changer for him.”
