Educators have a powerful effect on the social-emotional development of children. New research points to SEL approaches that maximize educators’ positive impact on students affected by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). This presentation will review the new research on the effects of ACEs and environmental stress on brain maturation and learning, then turn attention to the research on Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) associated with positive educational outcomes. The webinar will conclude with suggestions for the use of individualized instruction combined with technology to build academic skills as well as the confidence to achieve in all students.
