Oakland, Calif. — June 1, 2015 — To make the most of their instructional time, teachers need a bird’s eye view of students’ progress — particularly when they’re receiving individualized instruction. Now, with a new app from Scientific Learning Corp., teachers can use their iPad or iPhone to monitor each student’s progress in real-time on the Fast ForWord® and Reading Assistant™ online programs. In addition, with new motivational enhancements in every exercise of the Fast ForWord READING Series, students can easily see their own success and progress within each exercise so they’re motivated to excel.
Session Monitor app
Now available in the iTunes App Store, the free Session Monitor app allows teachers to easily and securely observe their students as they work on the Fast ForWord and Reading Assistant programs. Using the app, teachers can gain real-time participation information for each student session from the convenience of their iPad or iPhone. From the Session Monitor screen, teachers can see what product, exercise or reading selection a student is working on, as well as the number of exercises or minutes remaining in a session. Teachers can also monitor students working in another classroom or building and get feedback on each student’s status.
Fast ForWord motivational enhancements
In addition, Scientific Learning has updated the Fast ForWord READING Series with new motivational enhancements in every exercise to make the reading intervention program even more engaging. These enhancements include fun reward animations and engaging background scenes that emphasize and reward student progression within an exercise session. Students can now see the percentage of completed content within each exercise as well their number of consecutive correct answers, and experience increased reward animations as they continue answering correctly.
Reading Assistant Chromebook compatibility
Scientific Learning has also updated Reading Assistant to make it compatible with Chromebooks — like the Fast ForWord program.
“We’re always looking for new ways to enhance teachers’ and students’ experiences, and to bring the benefits of the Fast ForWord and Reading Assistant programs to as many students as possible,” said Robert C. Bowen, CEO of Scientific Learning. “Using the Session Monitor app, teachers can now see the same student information that’s available in MySciLEARN’s monitor feature from the convenience of their iPad or iPhone. With this new app, along with the extensive motivational enhancements and expanded product access, teachers can easily make the most of each student’s session to ensure they’re making fast and lasting gains.”
