Oakland, Calif. — Dec. 5, 2014 — Scientific Learning Corp. today announced that its Fast ForWord® online intervention has been named a 2014 “Readers’ Choice Top 100 Product” by District Administration magazine in recognition of the positive difference it has made in education. The Fast ForWord program uses the principles of neuroplasticity — the ability of the brain to rewire and improve — to target the root cause of slow academic progress in struggling students and English language learners.

The Top 100 Products winners, selected by District Administration’s editors from a record 2,400-plus nominations, are products that received the highest number of nominations and best descriptions from K-12 school district leaders. The award informs superintendents and other school district leaders about products their colleagues around the country are using to help their districts excel in a variety of areas, such as technology and curriculum instruction.

“Awards such as the Top 100 Products confirm that education leaders understand that students who struggle need more than reading remediation. Indeed, they can thrive only when cognitive skills such as memory, attention, processing and sequencing are addressed as well,” said Robert C. Bowen, CEO of Scientific Learning. “Fast ForWord is unique in that learners can realize significant achievement gains in four to six weeks, along with desired behavioral changes, and these gains endure after the intervention is no longer in use.”
