Oakland, Calif. — Oct. 31, 2012 — A series of free online seminars focused on the brain and learning are now available on iTunes, Yahoo, and Google from Scientific Learning Corp. (OTCQB:SCIL), makers of the Fast ForWord® and Reading Assistant™ family of products. Audio podcasts of the one-hour webinars, which cover a range of topics from literacy and neuroscience to autism support and interventions, can be accessed on-demand anytime and anywhere. In addition, this November, Scientific Learning will air two new live webinars highlighting ways to improve student learning at school and at home.

Scientific Learning’s next live webinar, titled “How a Low Performing School Achieved Double-Digit Gains on the California Standards Tests (CSTs),” debuts Nov. 5. In this session Charles Wilson, principal of Korematsu Discovery Academy in East Oakland, Calif., will describe how the formerly low performing school achieved Adequate Yearly Progress and exited Program Improvement status. Wilson will discuss how the school’s use of the Fast ForWord software contributed to this dramatic improvement. In addition, Martha Burns, Ph.D., a noted neuroscientist and practicing speech and language pathologist, will share the science behind the Fast ForWord program and explain what makes it so powerful as a reading intervention.

Dr. Burns will lead a new live webinar one week later on Nov. 12. Titled, “The Science of Learning (for Parents),” the session will discuss how recent research on the brain shows that developing the critical cognitive skills of memory, attention, processing and sequencing can make a significant difference for a child, resulting in improved reading and general academics. Joining Dr. Burns will be a parent to discuss her child’s progress and results with BrainPro®, an innovative home learning software program.

The live webinars are free of charge but pre-registration is required. To register, or for more information on dates and times, visit http://www.scilearn.com/webinars.
